Reflecting on 2018
A lot can happen in one year! As we reflect back, we wanted to highlight some of the big accomplishments for Whitepages in 2018. Here are some of our successes.
Company Trip to Suncadia
We kicked off the year with a Company Retreat to a winter resort in Suncadia. It was an incredible team-building event that brought together our US and Budapest offices in one place. After some deep-dive planning meetings, we enjoyed fun activities, an amazing team dinner, and entertainment from our own company band: Big Data! We look forward to returning in a few weeks!
Blog

New and Improved Mobile App
Our Whitepages Mobile App is better than ever with our 2018 re-launch. We made it even easier to identify spam calls and get detailed information on phone number owners. Our Mobile Team worked diligently to provide a user-friendly app that seamlessly integrates our products. The Customer Care Team took it a step further to actively answer and adjust using feedback from our users.
Reverse Phone Lookup
We also introduced an app specifically for the Reverse Phone Lookup Whitepages feature. Specifically for iOS devices, you can quickly and easily enter a number and know if you’re receiving a fraudulent call.
Introduction of Court Runner
Over the summer, we added Court Runner to our Whitepages Premium service. Along with our standard background check service SmartCheck, the addition of Court Runner provides the absolute most up-to-date information for your search.
Pro Insight Re-brand
Our Whitepages Pro customers formerly used the Pro Web Tool to access data through an API. With Pro Insight, we enhanced this tool so that business customers can perform even faster, individual searches on a global scale. It is arguably the best manual review tool in the marketplace! In addition to receiving outstanding data from our Identity Graph, Pro Insight provides the best possible customer service with appealing visuals.
International Expansion
As we continually improve and update our data, we are proud of Whitepages’ ever-growing global expansion. This year we added Australian Identity Data for the first time! Our new International Core Initiative includes further updates for the UK, Brazil, and Mexico!
FAM
In November we officially launched a huge new product called FAM – Free Account and Monitoring for our consumers. This cross-team effort now allows any user, not just Premium members, to monitor a person from a Coresite person details page. We will share more as we continue to analyze and enhance based on customer feedback.
Conferences
We’ve had a number of Whitepagers speak at big conferences this year. In April, we had the honor to present at the Redis Conference. Varun and Jason shared how our engineers came to use RedisLabs Flash Storage to enhance our Identity Graph Data. Alvaro represented the Mobile Team at Seattle’s Mobile Growth Conference in August, highlighting some of those enhancements mentioned above! After hosting our first ever Machine Learning Meet Up in October at our Seattle office, Jason and Stefan took their knowledge to a Data and ML Workshop. Hosted at the Hotel Renaissance in Seattle, approximately 300 people were in attendance.
Recognition
Our biggest rewarding is serving both our individual and business customers the best and most current data. Still, it is nice to be honored and recognized for our work. For the eighth year in a row, we were voted one Seattle Best Magazine’s Top 100 companies, a Glassdoor Best Places to Work in Seattle, and we are holding strong at #27 on the GeekWire 200.
