Obliteride 2018

Here at Whitepages, we have a strong passion for supporting our local community. A few weekends ago, a group of our employees took time out of their week to support the Fred Hutch Obliteride, a bike ride and fundraiser supporting cancer research. For some of us, this was our first time getting involved with this cause, but for our CEO, it is his fourth year riding to kick Cancer’s butt.

Our volunteers spent Friday afternoon at Gas Works Park checking in riders and walkers and wishing them luck. This event had over 2000 participants, all coming together to fight cancer and support loved ones in our community. It was a busy afternoon and a great way to give back.

Three of our employees were eager and willing enough to ride the “century ride” of 100 miles. They trained for months prior to the event and all rode over the finish line together!

The ride started at the University of Washington first thing Saturday morning and went down through Seward Park, then through Renton, all the way to Tacoma. After a quick stop for a beer, they were able to make it all the way back to Gas Works park (which is approximately 40 miles) for the after party! After many hills, a small crash, and hard work, these guys deserved to celebrate their accomplishment!

Like many of us, supporting cancer research sits near and dear to our CEO, Rob Eleveld’s heart, as he has been personally affected by the loss of his father to cancer. The Fred Hutch Obliteride is on the path to defeat cancer by 2025. There are many ways to join in the fight by volunteering your time, money or other resources.

Whitepages will be at the Obliteride in 2019 and we hope to see you there!
