WhitePages account
I'm having trouble creating an account. Why can't I see all of the info for some listings?Who is WhitePages?
WhitePages is a privately-held company located in Seattle, WA. Our goal is to make it fantastically simple for everyone to connect with confidence.
Is WhitePages the phone company?
No. WhitePages is not owned by or affiliated with any phone company.
Do you offer phone books?
WhitePages does not print or distribute phone books. To obtain a copy or make changes to your local phone book, you should contact the publisher of the phone book, which is often the local phone company that serves that region.
What's the difference between 411.com and calling 411?
We don't operate a 411 phone service. But 411.com is one of our websites. It's your source for free, online people search. That's different from calling 411, which connects you to a directory assistance operator and generally results in a service fee.
411.com is not affiliated or associated with 411-service or your local phone company in any way.
Where do you get the information for your listings?
We get our listing information in these three ways:
1. Publicly Available Information Sources
This is what it sounds like: information that's available to the public. It includes addresses, street names, cities, states and ZIP codes. Other examples of publicly available information include published phone directories and information published on the Internet.
2. Third-Party Data Suppliers
Information from third-party data suppliers originates from a variety of sources. It may include publicly available information, such as phone directories, as well as information from other sources. For example, people often provide name, address, phone number, email address and other personal information when filling out forms for contests, sweepstakes, subscriptions or other similar offers. Often, this information can be shared with third parties. Whenever you provide personal information — either online or offline — you should understand how the information will be used and whether it can be shared with third parties.
3. Member-Published Listings
We obtain a portion of our listings from members who add their cell phone number or email address directly to our website. Member-added listings have this logo next to their listing:
If listing information is not on WhitePages, it is either unavailable or has been removed from our websites. You can choose to remove your listing form our site. To learn how to remove a listing, click here.
How do I add a listing?
It's easy. Just follow these steps:
- Go to the Add Your Listing tab and follow the directions to get started.
- Enter the listing information you wish to publish on WhitePages.
- We'll send a verification message.
- Once verified, your listing will be published on WhitePages!
You can add your cell phone number or email address so people can contact you directly or through private text or email messages.
Do I have to pay to add a listing?
No. It's free to add your listing to WhitePages. It's also free to list your cell phone number (one text message will be sent to verify your number, and a standard message fee may apply).
Still have questions?
Contact usHow do I edit my listing?
You can edit your listing in just a few steps:
- Find yourself on WhitePages and click "Is this you? Edit" link next to your name.
- Sign up for a WhitePages account (or sign in if you already have one).
- Make your changes and confirm your info.
- Once you verify, your listing will be updated!
If you can't make the changes you want, you may choose to remove the listing instead. A link to remove is at the bottom of your listing.
Why can't I edit my listing?
If you don't see "Edit" next to your name, or you get a message that listings can't be modified right now, the listing may be temporarily locked, or we may be having a glitch in the system. You may be able to try it again later.
If you see the message "To edit this listing, you must be signed in as its owner," then you will need to contact us. Once you can confirm that you really are the person in that listing, you will be able to edit or update it once you sign in with your email and password.

Contact usHow do I send a text message?
To send a text message to a person from their listing, look for the "Send a text" link below their name. Enter your cell number, your name and your message. Then click on the Send button. It's that easy! If you don't see an option to send a text message, that person chose not to be contacted via cell phone.
If you already know the person's cell phone number, you can send a free text message from your computer right to their phone. Just look for the Free Text icon on the homepage to get started.
Is text messaging really free?
Yes. Texting from WhitePages is free if you're a member. We do not charge any messaging fees to you, the sender, or your recipient. BUT, standard text messaging fees or other charges may apply from your wireless service provider. Your recipient may also be charged a small fee from their provider.
How do I stop receiving text messages?
Text the word STOP to 566587 ("lookup").
When you do this, all messaging services through WhitePages will be cancelled, and you will receive a confirmation text message. Your cell phone will be removed from your listing on our website. If that was your only point of contact, then your listing won't appear anymore.
Note: If you have a WhitePages LOOKUP service subscription on your mobile phone ($2.99/month for phone number lookups from your cell phone), that will be cancelled as well. Learn more about our LOOKUP service.
If you want your cell to appear on your listing again, text YES to 566587, and it will be reactivated on our website.
If after following the above steps, your listing still appears on WhitePages, email us or call (800) 336-1327.
How do I send an email?
From a person's member listing, click on the "Send email" link below their name. Enter your email address, your name and your message. Then click on the Send button.
If you don't see an option to send an email, that person chose not to be contacted via email. That's one of the choices you have as a WhitePages member.
How do I search for people?
Enter the name of a person you are searching for and their location, if you know it. We return the address, phone number and other identifying information for that person, if available.
Be aware that there is a limit to the number of results for any given search. If too many listings are found, refine your search by providing a full first name, ZIP code or city name.
If no results are found, try entering just a first initial or expanding your search by removing the ZIP code or city name. You can also try an "advanced search" for more options, including "begins with" searching for both first and last name and an option to "include surrounding area". We also offer search suggestions to help get results.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
How do I search for a business?
Enter the name of the business you are searching for (e.g. "Starbucks" or "Holiday Inn") or a business category (e.g. "plumbers") to find all businesses within a certain category.
When searching, start by using as few search terms as possible. For example, instead of "Starbucks Coffee Co.", just enter "Starbucks". If your search returns too many results, narrow down your search by providing a ZIP code, city name or more specific business name.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
What's a reverse phone search? And how does it work?
This is a WhitePages feature that helps you find a person by their phone number. Say you get a call on your mobile from an unknown number. Enter that 10-digit phone number into reverse search. If available, we return the name, address and other identifying information for that phone number. Results will include both home and work listings.
If no results are found, we return the "type", "carrier" and "location" of the phone number. But sometimes information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
What's a reverse address search? How can I do one?
This is just like reverse phone search but for addresses. Enter an address. If available, we return the name, phone number and other identifying information for that address. Results will include both home and work listings.
It's best to start your search using as few search terms as possible. Enter the address without the street type (e.g. Street, Road, Rd, Ave, etc) or directional indicators (e.g. NE, SE, W, etc).
There is a limit to the number of results for any given search. If too many listings are found, refine your search by providing an apartment number or adding in the street type and directional indicators. If the search is for a large, multi-unit building, you may need to do a "People Search" to get results.
If no results are found, the information simply may be unavailable or has been removed from WhitePages.
I'm having trouble creating an account.
I got an email that says my email address is not registered. What do I do?
This is an easy one. Just create a new account. To do that, click here.
I got a message that my email address is already registered. What's up?
If you receive a message that your email address is already registered, you can sign in to your existing account by creating a new password. Here's how:
- Click the "Sign In" link in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
- Click "Forgot your password?"
- Enter the email address for your account in the "Email/Username" field and click "Submit".
- We'll send an email to the email address provided with a temporary password and a link back to our website.
- Type your new password into the "New Password" field, confirm the same password in the "Confirm New Password" field, and click "Submit".
If you cannot successfully change your password, you will need to delete the cookies from your web browser. We use cookies to store your temporary password. Sometimes the cookies do not update successfully. To fix this, you will need to delete the cookies from your browser and go through the above process again.

Contact usWhy can't I see all of the info for some listings?
People who join WhitePages are members. They add their own listings to WhitePages. In return, they get full access to all member listings and information that isn't available on any other free service. These can be new addresses for people who have moved, work addresses that don't typically appear in a directory, or member-added listings that have been added directly by WhitePages members.
To view Member Listings, join WhitePages. It's free, and takes only about two minutes. To join now, click here.
