All advertisements must be approved by WhitePages.com before being placed on the WhitePages.com Network.
We reserve the right to reject any insertion order, graphic, text description or URL. Below are guidelines regarding
advertising material.
Inappropriate Advertising:
- Guns (firearms, ammunition, etc.)
- Illegal Drugs
- Pornography
- Bad language, body parts, proxies for bad language (e.g., X@#%!)
- Graphic Violence
Advertising Guidelines:
-
Ads should not appear to be part of WhitePages.com's content rather than an advertisement.
-
Ads should be encased in a border. If borderless, an ad must contain the advertiser's name
to signify that it is an ad banner, not content. (Blending is not allowed.)
-
Ads may not have transparent backgrounds and may never blend into the screen content.
-
Ads may never use any portion of the WhitePages.com brand name to imply affiliation with
or an endorsement by WhitePages.com whether a WhitePages.com product, content or
service unless such a relationship exists.
-
As a general rule, "functionality" ads should avoid use of WhitePages.com color schemes.
If "functionality" ads do use WhitePages.com color schemes, the ads must include text such
as "advertisement" (in the upper bar or top left-hand side of the banner) OR "For more information,
click here!" (with a cursor embedded into the image to encourage users to click there) AND
the advertiser's name (e.g., "from ABC company").
-
Ads may not use WhitePages.com branding logos or proprietary images
from WhitePages.com within an ad banner.
-
Advertisements cannot solicit or collect, or appear to solicit or collect, any personally
identifiable information from WhitePages.com's users without their permission.
-
Advertisements cannot mimic news headlines in design, tone, 3rd person sentence structure, or topic.
-
After clicking on any ad unit, users must be able to return to WhitePages.com by clicking on the browser's "Back"
button. Any destination URLs that result in the "trap door" effect (e.g., the user can not return to
WhitePages.com by clicking the browser's "Back" button), are not permitted.
-
Exit pops Once a user has clicked to the advertiser's website, the advertiser's
website can spawn one "exit pop" only.
-
No automatic downloads are allowed coming from an advertisement or an advertiser's website.
-
Pop-unders Close buttons may not spawn another advertisement or webpage.
Users must be able to close pop-unders with one click and not receive another ad.
Additional Advertising Guidelines for Public Search Companies:
In addition to the general advertising guidelines listed above, Public Search Companies must adhere to the following guidelines as well.
- Ads should not appear to be part of WhitePages.com's content rather than an advertisement.
- All ads should be encased in a border.
- All ads must have a logo or some advertiser branding.
