"Torres and others started trying to track down Darondo five years ago, after influential London acid-jazz DJ Gilles Peterson began playing the singer's second and most successful single, 1973's "Didn't I," on his popular BBC Radio 1 program. Last spring Torres found a Daron Pulliam in Tracy through WhitePages.com. Daron turned out to be Darondo's 40-year-old son. Within a few days, Torres was on the phone with the singer himself."
